Always an emotive subject but someone has to do it, however if you were in the carnivals the competitors can vote for their favourite, how do you do this well the best way if you have not received a voting paper try the link below which explain how you go about it:

COMPETITORS CHOICE AWARDS 2024

​

The county committee has 48 cups/trophies which are awarded each year, the entries being judged on various items within fifteen different classes, see the Awards page for more details.

 

In addition each town appoints their own judges, fifty seven in each town to give results for their towns cups/trophies, who judged what see Judges.

​

The Judging Conditions of Entries have been updated for 2024.

We have fifteen different classes:

​

Class 1 - Tableau Cart - Open

Class 2 - Tableau Cart - Local

Class 3 - Feature Cart - Open

Class 4 - Feature Cart - Local

Class 5 - Comic Feature Cart

Class 6 - Juvenile Cart

Class 7 - Adult or mixed Adult & Juvenile walking group

Class 8 - Juvenile walking group

Class 9 - Adult, Juvenile or mixed Adult & Juvenile walking group (3 to 7 persons)

Class 10 - Adult,  Juvenile or mixed Adult & Juvenile Pair

Class 11 - Adult Single Masquerader

Class 12 - Juvenile Single Masquerader

Class 13 - Single or Pairs with Wheeled Props

Class 14 - Best Decorated Towing Vehicle

Class 15 - Best Dressed Towing Vehicle Driver

​The judging criteria for each element are listed in the documents below, for more information and guidelines to judges click the underlined links below, to ensure fairness each judge judges two categories only:

Classes 1 - 6 categories:

1 & 2 - Presentation & General Effect + Music

3 & 4 - Stillness / Pose (for classes 1 & 2) or Life & Movement (classes 3, 4 & 6) or Comedy Content (for class 5) + Costume / Make Up or Mask

5 & 6 - Lighting + Cart Build Up

Classes 7 - 13 categories:

1 & 2 - General Effect & Entertainment Value + Costume / Prop & Make Up or Mask

3 & 4 - Presentation & Routine + Ingenuity

​

Class 14 categories:

1 - Vehicle Build Up

2 - Presentation & General Effect

3 - Lighting

 

Class 15 categories:

 

1 - General Effect

2 - Costume

3 - Make Up or Mask
